Pricing
One price per machine, and a separate, small charge only when Caryvane's own hosted worker does the job instead of your machine. The current price is shown when you sign up and in the console under Billing; it is in GBP and excludes VAT. If you buy through a managed service provider, they set your price.
Per machine #
| Price | Billed |
|---|---|
| A flat price per enrolled machine per month, the same for a laptop or a Hyper-V host. The figure is shown at sign-up, or ask us. | Monthly in advance, by card. The invoice is raised 7 days before the billing day; 7 days' grace after it before the account is suspended. |
A machine is a computer running the Caryvane agent — a server, a Hyper-V host, a laptop, a Mac, a Linux box — enrolled in the console. Everything the agent does on that machine is included: file backup, VSS, application-consistent Hyper-V, SQL Server and Active Directory, continuous backup, version history, cloud drives, restores, and as many jobs and as much data as the machine has. Storage is yours and is not resold: you pay your storage provider directly.
A self-service account can enrol 5 machines; ask us to raise it.
The trial #
Signing up on the website starts a free trial with no card; its length is shown when you sign up and counted down in the console. Every machine-based feature works from the first minute. Machines that have already had a trial under another account are recognised and cannot start a second one.
Cloud credits — when Caryvane does the job for you #
Some work does not need one of your machines: a copy from one cloud storage to another, a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace backup, an archiving sweep. You can run those on your own agent at no extra cost — or on the Caryvane Cloud Agent, a hosted worker in the UK, so the data never passes through your hardware. Using the hosted worker is what cloud credits pay for.
| How it is counted | Price |
|---|---|
| One cloud credit = one job configured to run on the Cloud Agent, for as long as it exists. Five jobs on the Cloud Agent need five credits; each can run as often as its schedule says. | A small fixed price per credit, shown in the console where you buy them (Billing → Buy credits; auto top-up optional). |
The job wizard will not create a Cloud Agent job for an account with no credits, and says why. If a provider manages your account, they add credits for you.
Xero backup #
Backing up Xero organisations is priced on its own, never from cloud credits: a monthly price for each Xero organisation, plus Xero data over an allowance that comes with each organisation. Xero charges us for the data its API sends, so that part follows what is actually downloaded. The first backup of each organisation has its own free allowance. The rules, with a worked example, are on Xero backup → What it costs; for the prices, ask us.
Managed service providers and distributors #
Partners who resell Caryvane to their own customers are billed monthly in arrears on the machines actually enrolled, with a cloud-usage allowance included, and set their own prices to their customers. Partner rates are agreed individually — contact us about a partner agreement. Billing & trial explains how partner invoicing works in the console.
What is never charged for #
- Jobs that run on your own agents, however many, however large.
- Restores, in either direction.
- Storage — Caryvane holds no copy of your data and sells no storage.
- Console users, customers in the hierarchy, deployment tokens, AI access keys, the API.
- Agent updates and support by email.
Changes #
The list price is shown at sign-up; a change is notified at least 30 days ahead and applies from the next billing period. See Billing & trial for how invoices and payments work, and the terms of service.
